Valentine’s Day Reflections — Love, Light, and the Places That Stay With

Share a sunset with someone special.
Share a sunset with someone special.

Valentine’s Day has a way of slowing things down.

Maybe it’s the middle of winter… maybe it’s the quiet expectation of the day… but it always feels like a moment to reflect — not just on love in the romantic sense, but on connection in all its forms.

As an artist, I think a lot about the places that hold our memories.

The shoreline where you walked with someone you love.

A sunset you didn’t want to end.
The sound of waves filling the silence between conversations.

So much of my work is rooted in those moments — the quiet spaces where emotion lives without needing words.

Watercolor, especially, lets me lean into that softness… edges dissolving, light lingering, memory blending into atmosphere.

Paintings like Sunset for Two or Summer Dreams come from that place.

They’re less about specific locations and more about shared experience.

The feeling of standing beside someone as the light fades, knowing the moment matters even if nothing is said.

Tonight, my wife and I will be spending the evening at Galeria West, where some of my work is currently on view, enjoying their Latin Jazz Valentine’s performance.'

It feels fitting, art on the walls, music in the air, and a reminder of how powerful shared experiences can be.

Days like this make me especially grateful for the collectors, supporters, and readers who follow along with what I create.

You’re part of the story too — helping these memories and places live beyond the studio.

If you’re celebrating today, I hope you find time for something simple and meaningful… a walk, a view, a quiet moment with someone you love.

And if you’re spending the day reflecting, I hope you find beauty in the memories that have shaped you.

Happy Valentine’s Day — wishing you warmth, light, and connection wherever you are.
